Rumtek Monastery– About 23Km from Gangtok, Rumtek Monastery belongs to the Kagyu sect of Buddhism. Surrounded by lush green landscapes and gurgling streams, you could take a taxi or book a cab to the base of Rumtek. From here you will have to walk up-hill to the main monastery. The entry fee is Rs. 10/- per person. The monastery stays open for tourists from 6 am to 6 pm.
Enchey Monastery- 3Km further up-hill from Rumtek Monastery is Enchey Monastery which is popularly known as ‘Solitary Monastery’. The monastery remains open from 6 am to 4 pm and has no entry fees.
Gangtok Ropeway– It is one of the best things to experience in Gangtok. You can board the 1km long cable ropeway from Deorali. It has 2 other stations, Namnang and Tashiling.
