Shilpgram Shopping Complex
Located at a distance of 3 km from the city, is a vibrant and colourful village with an undulating terrain of around 70 acres of land grazing the majestic ranges of the Aravalli Mountains. The main aim of the complex for its establishment is to create awareness about the folk and rural arts still prevalent in the village and provide an opportunity to the urban and rural artists to display their creations on a high platform in the form of camps and workshops.
The amphitheatre is used during significant theatre festivals organized within its premises representing the traditional folk performing arts. The form in which the camps are held in the village is that traditional huts are erected illustrating the essential occupations of the people representing their way of life.
The items featured in these traditional huts include everyday use items made of terracotta, textile, wooden, metal objects, decorative items and other essential objects and implements displayed with appropriate signage and explanatory details. The main objective of this display and attraction is to let the visitors get a realistic glimpse of the people of the village and their belongings.
The cultural village receives major crowd during the Shilpgram Festival organized every year from 21st of December till 31st of December. The items on display include hand woven clothes, embroideries, mirror works, urban potters, visual artists and handicrafts. There are workshops organized for those who want to learn crafts. Different types of cultural programs are also held, and various food stalls are also invited. Those who want to get an insight into the vast culture and craftsmanship followed in the county are the ones who relish their experience in the place.
