Gavi is an excellent all-year holiday destination if you don’t mind the warm weather during the summer months. The village is a vantage point where you can catch a glimpse of the elusive Nilgiri Tahr and a host of other animals – elephants, Lion-tailed macaques. Bird watchers are likely to feel at home amidst the 250+ species of birds that are habitual visitors.
Guided treks, night safaris, camping trips, boat rides and several other activities are likely to keep you enthralled. Outdoor camping is a rare possibility which is thrilling and enjoyable, interlaced with suspense though! The pleasant weather, calm and scenic settings and the hospitality of the local community make the visit comfortable and memorable. Tree houses of Gavi are inviting too!
Tourist facilities are available but very basic in Gavi. You will be easily able to accommodate a tour of the cardamom plantation and processing factory, boating at the calm Gavi Lake, a visit to the local museum which features skeletons of different animals plus a jeep ride through the jungle in a day’s time.
