Ecotourism initiatives of the local community have made Chellarkovil a pleasure to visit. The Eco-park with rich natural settings, neat pathways lined with rustic huts to house tourists, an Ayurveda facility, a watchtower that offers panoramic views of the parameters, an amenity centre for visitors, guided treks into forested areas, guided tour of the village and the local spice garden and herbarium housing medicinal plants as well as spectacular visuals of the Aruvikkuzhi/Chellarkovil waterfalls, are salient highlights of this trip. Cycling and Bullock cart tours are also available.
Access to the watchtower and use of the telescope on its balcony attract a reasonable fee. Watching the waterfall in spate right after the monsoons proves exhilarating. An interesting fact is that the waterfall hits the earth in Tamilnadu irrigating large expanses of agricultural land in the neighbourhood! From an elevation of 1200 m above sea level at Chellarkovil the terrain slopes into the lush valleys of Tamilnadu, with coconut groves of Kambam town clearly visible from the viewpoint. The play of light during sunrises and sunsets are equally spectacular when observed from the watchtower.
Nearest Airport/Railway Station: Both located in the neighbouring state of Tamilnadu
