Shri Raghunathji Temple
The Raghunath Ji Temple is believed to be almost 650 years old and a sacred place for Hindus particularly the Vaishnavites. Besides the deity of Lord Raghunathji, the temple is also the subject of many legends. The popular myth depicts the suffering of a young Princess who died early as her stepmother did not want her to marry the Prince of Mount Abu.
The temple was constructed in her honour whether the Lord blesses the worshippers and frees them from pain and suffering. Some scholars and historians, however, believe that the temple was built by the 14th century Hindu Scholar known as Shri Ramanand.
The architecture of the temple bears the legacy of the Mewar and is opulent in its dazzling paintings and inscriptions along with exquisite carvings throughout the temple. The central part of the shrine is occupied by the deity that is ornately carved as well. Although there are numerous visitors to the temple, yet its serenity invokes a feeling of deep devotion and calm. Many practising Hindus make sure to spend a part of their time to meditate inside the temple premises with the beautiful Nakki Lake on one side and the lofty mountains on the other.
