The magnificent valley by the side of the Beas River is well known for its winter sports as well. Manali receives a good amount of snow from December up to the end of March. There are many tourists who descend in the area in the thick of the winter to enjoy skiing as well. The popularity of this particular activity has prompted the administration of Manali town to permit business operators to set up winter camps and skiing institutes as well as adventure camps in order to provide assistance to the sports enthusiasts. Visitors who are total novices need not panic or avoid skiing altogether either. Individuals keen to learn the ropes are welcome to get in touch with the directorate of ‘Mountaineering and Allied sports’ in Manali and request for an instructor. There are several easy slopes that the beginners will find it easy to negotiate as well. While the conditions are excellent for skiing during the months of December & January, the facilities are available all through the year at Rohtang Pass. It might be better for the ones with zero skiing experience to try their hand at this sport when the weather is milder and the cold not so intense.
Rohtang pass and Solang Valley are best known for skiing. However, it is also possible to ski at Marhi, Gulaba and the Dhundi village.
Daily during the winter months.
