Thiksey Monastery

Thiksay Monastery or Thiksay Gompa is one of the largest and most famous Monastery in Ladakh situated on the top of a hill in Thiksey village, located at an altitude of 3,600 metres (11,800 ft) in the Indus Valley. It is around 600 yrs. old twelve-story complex, one of the finest example of Ladakh’s architecture and art. The statue of Maitreya Buddha at Thikse is two storeys tall (49 feet statue) and it’s a beautiful statue.
The morning prayer has its own charm, so if you are planning to visit make sure to attend the prayer around 6:00 am.

It is not only famous for its beautiful Monastery, but it’s a beautiful heritage site too and you can enjoy the photogenic scenic view and capture the beautiful moments in your camera. You can’t afford to miss the panoramic view of the valley from the monastery.
