Stok Palace

Stok Gompa is a Buddhist monastery in Stok, Leh. Founded in the 14th Century by Lama Lhawang Lotus. It has a well-known library with 108 volumes of the Kangyur. A former royal palace blend with traditional and contemporary architectural styles.

This is a large museum, however only a small area is open for visitors, also a documentary is shown here. It has a separate room to showcase the war equipment, where you can see a good collection of swords, shields, bows, arrows, quivers and guns. The view from the top is equally amazing, the whole Leh city is visible. It also showcases the royal artefacts such as royal crowns, copper coins, prayer instruments, precious heirlooms, precious stones and also many 16th century Thangkas, which represents the life and teachings of Buddha.


Located at 17 Km from Leh Airport. Easily reachable in cabs/taxi and buses.
