Karsha Monastery

A Buddhist monastery in Padum Valley of the Zanskar region, also known as “Karsha Chamspaling” founded by Phagspa Shesrab. The largest and most important monastery in Zanskar. It is a house to some of the most beautiful bone relics of Dorje Rinchen and paintings.

Gustor festival is famous here which is celebrated annually on 28th and 29th day of sixth month as per the Tibetan calendar. Around 100 monks are resident in this Gompa and it’s a complex monastery comprising eight chapels, chortens, residential rooms, embellished with exquisite paintings of Lama Dzadpa Dorje. Along with the famous festival, karsha gives you the opportunity to witness the beautiful landscape of Zanskar Valley which also includes the rivers, greenery, glacier and the vast lands. Perfect mixture of spiritualism and culture.
