The Lachen Monastery

This mesmerizing and bewitching beauty and a holy abode were built in the 1858 A.D. under the patronage of the Nyingma Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, with the assistance of eight monks who transformed and re-engineered a small hut which was constructed by Lama Karchen Dorje Drak. The precise location of the monastery with all its magnificent and spellbound views is sure to lure you into its picturesque aroma.It houses a statue of Guru Padmasambhava also known as the Guru Rinpoche in a deity posture.
The monastery is positioned at the meeting points of the Lachen River and the Lachung River; the tributaries of the mighty River Teesta. The premises of this holy and sacred place are decorated with vibrancy with the colourful prayer flags and the prayer wheels.
