Sam Sand Dunes
The sand dunes lie around 40-45 km from the central city and allow the tourists to glimpse the desert as nature has meant it to be. The sand dunes are in the form of waves with the golden-yellow sand stretching as far as the eye can see them. The sand, however, keeps shifting and there are absolutely no landmarks to remember particular parts of the desert here.
It’s easy to travel via an open jeep or on the back of a camel while traversing the total extent of the sandy stretch. Many visitors prefer to spend the night out in the desert too. They opt for camping in tents or seek shelter in the rough huts of the local people. The foreigners enjoy their time here by watching the Rajasthani musical performance along with the traditional dances while partaking authentic Rajasthani cuisine in front of the bonfire.
Watching both sunrise and sunset within the desert is indeed an experience of a lifetime while the tourists who wish to enjoy nature at its best remain mesmerised by gazing at the stars in the clear sky high above.
No fee for visiting the dunes. However, camel rides and camping are charged following the rates set by the local authorities.
