The name of this place, ‘Mussoorie’ was derived from the plants of Mussoorie or shrub Mansoor which are abundantly available in this region. It was founded in 1820 when a British army officer named Captain Young was so mesmerized by the beauty of this place that he decided to construct a shooting lodge jointly along with the British military officer and Superintendent of revenues at Dehradun, Mr. Shore.

By Rail– The railways station of Dehradun is well connected to all the other parts of the country via Railways. The most common and popular train connecting this city is Dehradun Jan Shatabdi express which starts from New Delhi railway station, running at the speed of 120 Km/hr.

Dehradun during Winters- This city has frigid and low temperatures during the winter months (November- March). If you are a person with great love for snow, then planning to this destination during these months can be thrilling and enjoyable. Consider packing extra jackets and sweats for the extreme cold weather.

Dehradun during Summer- Months between April-June are the peak months, which attracts many tourists as the weather is pleasant, not so hot and not cold at all. Even during the summers, the temperature lowers down during the late evening and throughout the night.

Dehradun during Monsoon- The monsoon months of July-October are just lovely as they make the whole city of Dehradun charming with its greenery all around. Besides having such a beautiful monsoon to celebrate, this hill city is also prone to landslides and possible floods as well during these months. Day 1- After reaching this city to relax yourselves in your booked accommodation and take yourself on a shopping spree in the evening at Paltan Bazar. This is a very famous market of this city, having all the things starting from gadget to clothes and handicrafts. Travellers can also explore Rajpur Road, which is a hub from restaurants famous for their ambiance and delicious cuisines.

Day 2- Kickstart your day by visiting the very famous Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple of lord Shiva. After seeking the blessing and witnessing the glorious Arti at the temple, head towards the popular picnic spot of Dehradun, robber’s Cave. It is just 7 Km from the temple. Relax yourselves in the hotels after a very tiring and enjoyable day.

Day 3- On the last day of your excursion, take yourselves to the Malsi Deer Park, which also gives the exciting opportunity of trekking and travellers can also witness many rare species of Deer prancing here and there.
