This is the primary island and capital of the Union Territory. It serves as the gateway to all the islands and is the main city of the region. Almost all the hotels and places of commercial interest are situated at Aberdeen Bazaar, the city centre. The ferries for different islands leave from the city while it is possible to enjoy a number of water based activities here as well.

How to Reach

Reach By Air – Veer Savarkar International Airport (It has direct flights to Kolkata & Chennai). The foreigners and non-resident Indians visiting the islands need to have a ‘Protected area Permit (PAP)’ obtainable at the Port Blair Airport.

Reach By Ship – There are ships available from Chennai, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam departing for Port Blair.

Best Time to Visit

It remains pleasant throughout the year expect during the tropical storms making it the perfect location that can be visited at any time. December to February sees a lot of tourist activity, however.
