The story of Establishment of Temple
Situated at the Sangam Kshetra of Prayag, this Bade Hanuman Ji mandir idol has retained all the spellbinding tale, which a trader of Kanauj, has all the wealth and prosperity in his life despite having the child. So, he went towards the Vindhyachal to build a Temple, of Hanuman Ji where he will preach him and with this, he constructed a huge effigy of Lord Hanuman out of stone and decided to wash that statue at maximum pilgrimage. At the end of his journey, he ultimately arrived at Triveni Sangam of Prayag. One night he dreamt that if he leaves the idol at this sacred place, then all Hankerings will get fulfilled. So, at the dawn of the day, he decided to draw his dream, left the statue and left for his city Kanauj. Some days later that wealthy trader got a son born to his wife by the blessings of Shri Bade Hanuman Ji. This prestigious supernatural tale is still being heard from the locals.
Reclining Position of the Idol
Hanuman Ji Mandir is one of the major tourist destinations, and it is the only underground Temple in Allahabad. Thousands of people, visit the mandir to experience the sight of Lord Hanuman effigy in reclining position. This huge statue is 20 feet long and 8 feet wide.

At the time of Monsoon, the part of the temple gets submerged in the Ganges river when the water level rises. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that the water of the holy river Ganges rises to touch the feet of the Lord Hanuman’s statue.
