Getting to Ladakh from Delhi

Delhi to Ladakh Flights– The Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh is well connected to Delhi by regular flights by Spicejet, Go Air, Air India. You can get the tickets for around Rs. 3000 if booked in advance. The airport is 9Km away from the city center. You can take a taxi available from outside the airport. You can book a pre-paid taxi or take a bus that operates to and from the airport. It will take 1hr and 15 to 20mins to reach Leh from Delhi via a flight. You might want to book the tickets in advance as no sooner does the tourist season sets in than the prices of tickets start rising.
Delhi to Ladakh trains– There is no railway station in Ladakh. You can board a train to Jammu Tawi which is the nearest railway station. New Delhi to Jammu Tawi Rajdhani Express (12425) has a travel time of 9hrs and runs daily. Many trains operate between the two stations. To get to Ladakh from Jammu you can take a taxi. You can a taxi from outside the station or can pre-book it. Though the former might be a little cheaper if bargained.
Delhi to Ladakh buses– Delhi ISBT has buses that take you to Keylong where you will have to change buses. It will take 24 hours to reach Leh Ladakh by bus. The long journey is dotted with beautiful scenery. It is only operational in summers.
Getting to Leh Ladakh via road
If you are planning to self-drive then hire an SUV, which is the best vehicle for a road trip to Ladakh. You can take two of the mentioned routes-
Manali – Gramphu – Khokhsar – Sissu – Keylong – Jispa – ZingZing Bar – Sarchu – Pang – Tanglang La – Miru – Upshi – Karu – Leh
You can drive down to Manali or Srinagar rest for a day or two then move forward or can fly down to any of the two places and continue on the road. If you wish to hire a cab or a taxi for the journey from Delhi then it can cost you Rs. 20,000 on an average for a round-trip. The cost can vary depending on the car you choose. If you hire an SUV then it can cost you more.
Cabs are available from Srinagar Railway Station for Ladakh at an average fare of Rs. 15,000. If you take a taxi from Manali. If you take a shared taxi then it will cost you around Rs. 3000 for a seat. Private taxis can cost you Rs. 21,000.
